Internet2 Completes 100-Gbit/s Network
Research and education consortium Internet2 announced the completion of a new nationwide network that was built to enable 100 Gbit/s of capacity and bandwidth-on-demand capabilities.
The consortium got an assist from equipment vendors Ciena Corp. (Nasdaq: CIEN - message board) and Infinera Corp. (Nasdaq: INFN - message board), whose gear enables easy provisioning of point-to-point IP circuits for use by university researchers.
