Sprint WiMax event marks beginning of end of wireline Internet?

Barry West was in a coat and tie Wednesday, but considering the way he was talking, maybe he should have been wearing a cape and a suit with a big “S” on the chest.

West was touting Sprint’s newly launched WiMax technology for its near super heroic powers to save the battered American economy, revolutionize the wireless industry and change the way consumers access the Internet.

“We launched on the worst day on the stock market,” said West, president of Sprint’s Xohm business unit. “One of the great things about America is it regenerates itself. We have just provided the foundation for a new wireless Internet experience.”
